The fine print, with heart

Disclaimer

The short version: NurseByMyCalc is an education and reference tool. It is not medical advice, and it never replaces your training, your institution’s protocols, or your own clinical judgment.

Education & reference only

Everything on this site — calculators, score references, conversion tools, and the notes beside them — exists to help nurses and nursing students study, double-check mental math, and find a formula fast. It is general reference information, not guidance for treating any particular patient.

Not medical advice

Nothing on this site is medical advice, diagnosis, or treatment, and using it does not create a provider–patient or professional relationship of any kind. Decisions about patient care belong to qualified clinicians applying their own judgment to the person in front of them.

Always verify

A calculator can do arithmetic; it cannot know your patient, your unit, or your orders. Before acting on any result, verify it against the original order, a hospital-approved drug reference, and your facility’s policies. High-alert medications — infusions, weight-based dosing, anticoagulants, insulin, and the like — always require an independent double check by a qualified professional, no matter what any calculator says.

Scores and scales

Scoring tools on this site (such as the Glasgow Coma Scale, Braden Scale, Morse Fall Scale, Apgar score, and Palliative Performance Scale) follow the published versions of those instruments. Facilities often adapt cutoffs and required interventions, so score and document according to your institution’s policy, and remember that a score summarizes an assessment — it doesn’t replace one.

Pay & career tools

Career calculators produce rough gross estimates before taxes, deductions, overtime rules, differentials, and benefits, which vary by employer, contract, and state. They are not financial, tax, or legal advice.

Accuracy, with humility

We test every formula against published standards and care a great deal about getting them right. Even so, the site is provided “as is,” without warranties of any kind, and we cannot guarantee it is free of errors. If something looks wrong, trust that instinct — verify elsewhere, and let us know so we can fix it.

Your privacy

No login, no accounts, no patient data. Calculations run entirely in your browser — the numbers you type are never sent to us or stored by us. Please don’t enter patient-identifying information anywhere on this site; the calculators only ever need the numbers. Our hosting provider may collect standard technical logs (like IP addresses) to keep the site running securely.

Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, NurseByMyCalc and its creators are not liable for any loss, injury, or damages arising from the use of — or reliance on — this site or its results. You use this site at your own risk, as one reference among the many a safe clinician consults.

Changes

We may update the site and this disclaimer as tools are added or standards evolve. The date below reflects the latest revision.
